To: All WORLD PRO-AM DANCESPORT SERIES STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS
Needless to say, 2020 has presented an unprecedented time for the dance industry at both the studio and competition levels.
Our industry has been virtually shut down since March 8th. Many studios and professionals have tried to keep the flow of learning going through Virtual Lessons and Lectures and as studios start to reopen, we are hopeful to return to business as usual in the not to distant future.
Competitive events however, fall into a very different category, with most events not running again until we reach Stage 4, and the confidence of our dancers to travel and dance in safe environments is restored.
Which brings us to the approaching Grand Finale of the World Pro Am Dancesport Series in November at the Ohio Star Ball.
The finale prize money is funded annually through the membership dues of our organizers, and that prize purse has been seriously impacted as the majority of our Dancesport Series events have not been held. This has also affected the competitors and teachers ability to accumulate points and achieve National Ranking as usual.
Due to these circumstances, should Ohio Star Ball happen, the Team Match will be suspended for this year, but the Grand Finale will happen. Prize purses will be reduced due to underfunding, and the amounts will be announced as the finale draws closer.
In the event Ohio does not happen, the Finale will be cancelled, no prize money awarded, and all points from 2020 will be carried over to 2021 and applied to the new series year.
Our hearts go out to all organizers who have been forced to cancel their events, studios that remain closed or have closed their doors permanently, professionals who are now in competitive and financial limbo, and all our students who patiently wait to return to the world of ballroom dance that we all love so much.
We thank you for your patience and continued support during these extraordinary times.
Until we meet again.
