Friday night social at The MAC
For the first time in the The MAC's 28 year history, there will be a social dance during The MAC. This event will be a fund raiser for the MAC and will take place in the ballroom on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 night. There will be an entire evening of dancing to the music of our guest DJ from Canada, Debbie Russell. There will be exciting events, food, drink, and a great time to be had by all. Clck here to get you Social Dance tickets.
At the Friday night social we will have a very special performance by the Long Island Roll Call: Wheel Chair Dancers.
The mission of Roll Call is to teach students of all ages, in wheelchairs or not, how to partner dance; to give quality dance education to non-dancer physical, recreational and occupational therapists, family and friends; to provide monthly socials, to offer annual competitions and mostly to provide a fun social activity for all.
Most of the students in wheelchairs are under 35 years of age. They have various ailments and afflictions ranging from Spinal Bifida, amputations, athletic accidents, and Tate diseases to mention just a few.
Their Motto is "Face to Face, Hand to Hand, Heart to Heart" which is very easy to say, but much harder to put into practice. Living these words raises a whole new awareness about who we are and how we interact in the world.
Cost for competitors will be a minimal, as in zero, we want you to come, experience the floor and have a great time before the anxiety of competing kicks in. So, pick up your registration material, check into the hotel and dance the night away. Cost for non-competitors will be $15.00/person in advance and $20.00 at the door. To get your social dance tickets in advance and save $5.00 click here to go to O2CM to buy the ticket.
Our competition vendors will be there, there will be a special fund raising sale of brand new "Dance Naturals" dance shoes from Italy plus some costumes by Donna Hamza Inc. Both the shoes and the costumes will be sold at a substantial discount and well worth the price of the social dance admission.
Please stay tuned for further details as we get closer to the event.
