Hello Dancers,

Summer is gone and fall is here, but the dancing season never ends. Our September dance was lots of fun, and a big thanks to Joann Podleski for the Texas Two Step lesson. Our overall attendance has dropped off a bit. I'm thinking (or hoping) that it is just the summer months and our numbers will be increasing this fall. So come dance and bring a friend. We did have several first time attendees this month and we are looking forward to seeing them again.

The October dance on the 11th will be a Halloween theme. I encourage you to come in costume and join in the spirit of the season. Ghouls, ghosts, goblins and witches are all welcome. For those who come in costume, your name will be put in a drawing for a free pass to a future dance. Our lesson will be East Coast Swing taught by Steve Reynolds.

The Autumn Serenade Ball was spectacular! If you did not attend, don't take my word for it, talk to someone who did. The music, food and the six showcase dances were all good but the pro's Danik Kutuzov and Maria Shalvarova were absolutely amazing!!! Thanks also to Rick Popp for providing the great music.

There were 63 guests in attendance and we had many positive comments about the event. Nearly all that attended would like to attend a similar event in the future. One concern was the ticket price. Our ticket sales did not cover the cost of the event, so to lower the ticket price we would have to eliminate either the pro's (bad idea!) or the food or we could sell 200 plus tickets. Darrell Lyvere says "people need to put a few dollars away each month for the event next year". I guess that means he liked the event and wants to attend another one. The other comments we received on our surveys will be addressed at our board meeting.

As a side note, an opportunity to dance for charity is being made available. Sunday October 13th at 1 pm, there will be an informational meeting at the Perry Woodard School of Dance, 1403 Columbus Ave., Bay City. Check out this website to see a preview of what is being planned for the Great Lakes Bay Region

Keep dancing,
