May 2014 Presidential Ponderings

Hello Dancers,

I do believe the warm weather is finally here, yeah! Our May dance was well attended and loads of fun. Carla Nemeth introduced us to the Mambo and she also led the mixer, the barn dance to a Paso Doble. Hard to believe but it works really great. So thank you Carla.

The June dance will be held at St. Brigid in Midland on Friday the 13th. Angela Markle will be our guest instructor for the evening lesson of the Romantic Rumba. Hope everyone can make it.

Things are coming together for our Autumn Serenade Ball. This year we have decided to make the ball a fundraising event for a charitable cause. We have selected the Johnny Burke Children's Foundation(JBCF). You can find out more about JBCF at www.thejbcf.org . Our pro dancers this year are Claire Hansen and Richard Tonizzo. They will be dancing a selection of smooth (standard) ballroom dances for us.

To make the Autumn Serenade Ball a successful event, we need help with promotion, encouraging dancers, friends, co-workers and family to attend. If you or your employer would like to be a sponsor, please let either Denise or I know. There are many different levels of sponsorship. We will also be needing help at the event as well.

There is a possibility for us to move dances from the 2nd Friday to the 3rd Friday of the month for 2015. I believe that this change would open up a few more dance opportunities for all of us. Joann has put together a survey, so let us know if you think the change would work. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GZCC8P3
